John Coe

“I trace the roots of my passion for photography directly to my father. As a child, I sat next to him on a tall stool in his homegrown darkroom…tucked away in our red toolshed…the heat generated by a small pot-bellied stove, the light a low orange glow from a photo-safe lamp. As we developed beautiful black and white images, he taught me the joy of telling stories with photos. That joy for narrative and nuance and detail permeates my work to this day.

I first exhibited with the Fort Mason Photographers in 2000 and have since participated in 24 shows with the group.”
